Indirect pressure reducing valves automatically reduce the high inlet pressure to a lower outlet pressure. The valves will maintain a relatively stable outlet pressure regardless of fluctuations in inlet pressure and flow. The pressure regulator valve "after itself" is not a safety type of valve and cannot be used as a safety valve. Pilot pressure reducing valves are used to control the main valves in the "after itself" control valves of indirect action. When the outlet pressure exceeds the set range on the pilot pressure reducing valve, the pilot valve automatically measures the outlet pressure and regulates the pressure in the back pressure chamber in the main valve, opening the valve gate and thus maintaining the outlet pressure.
